Empowering Rural Communities in Burkina Faso
Through clean water, women’s livelihoods, education, agriculture, and hope.

OUAGANET’s environmental work in rural Burkina Faso focuses on practical education, tree planting, and sustainable community practices. We educate villagers on simple but important ways to protect the environment, preserve soil fertility, reduce land degradation, and use natural resources responsibly.

A key part of this work is the training and donation of Moringa oleifera trees. Moringa is drought resistant, grows well in difficult conditions, and produces highly nutritious leaves that can be harvested within a few months to help fight malnutrition. The trees also produce seeds that allow families and communities to grow more plants, making the impact sustainable over time.

OUAGANET also promotes the planting of Leucaena trees, which provide both environmental and agricultural benefits. Leucaena grows well in poor soils, fixes nitrogen, and helps improve soil fertility. Its protein-rich leaves can also be used as livestock feed, especially for goats and sheep.

Through these efforts, OUAGANET helps rural families protect the environment while improving nutrition, supporting livestock, and building greater resilience against poverty and climate challenges.
